By court order, the “publication permit” for this book has been revoked, and it has been removed from the markets. The published copies of this book have been pulped, and it may only be available from “street book sellers” and underground publishers.
In hopes of a free Iran and liberation from censorship.
Receive censorships of this book
- publication permit: All books intended for publication in Iran must be read and reviewed by an organization called the “Ministry of Culture.” The process involves the publisher, in cooperation with the author, submitting the book to this governmental organisation. Designated individuals read the entire book and order the removal/censor of sections they do not wish to be published. In Iran, the publisher and author are required to implement all the censorships to receive a document called a “publication permit” from the aforementioned organization. Only after obtaining this permit can the publisher release the book (without any additional changes).
- street book sellers: In Iran, there are individuals who illegally sell books without publication permits or books that have been censored and removed from circulation. These sellers have no connection with the authors or publishers of the books and independently distribute them illegally. They usually set up their simple book stalls in specific hangouts on certain streets. Occasionally, they are threatened by government officials or have their stalls shut down, but the connection between these sellers and their readers persists. This is a way to bypass censorship of books and authors in Iran.
