Den politiske litteraturen

This event, titled “Den politiske litteraturen,” features a conversation between poet Priya Bains and poet, editor, human rights activist, and midwife Fatemeh Ekhtesari. The event takes place on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, from 14:00 to 15:00 at Deichman Majorstuen in Oslo, Norway. The discussion will be held on the stage, and entry is free with no registration required.

The focus of the conversation revolves around the growing need for political literature in times marked by crisis, occupation, and climate change. The event aims to explore how authors navigate the label “political” in their own literature, their thoughts on the potential of literature in the face of lack of freedom, and what aspects they are concerned with in their own writing.

In this particular event, Priya Bains, a poet and writer who debuted with the poetry collection “Med restene av mine hender” in 2021, will engage in conversation with Fatemeh Ekhtesari. Ekhtesari, a Persian author with numerous publications, including the bilingual poetry collection “Hun er ikke kvinne” from the previous year, is known for her energetic, genre-crossing, and beautiful work that centers around gender, freedom, vitality, and barriers. The discussion will also touch upon Ekhtesari’s perspective on lack of freedom in contemporary times.

The event is organized in collaboration with Norsk forfattersentrum (Norwegian Authors’ Center) and is hosted by Deichman Majorstuen in Oslo. It provides an opportunity for the audience to gain insights into the thoughts and experiences of these two poets regarding political literature and its role in addressing current societal challenges.
