Fatemeh Ekhtesari in Conversation with Kristin Sørsdal

Join a thought-provoking discussion with Fatemeh Ekhtesari, a prominent young figure in contemporary Persian literature, as she explores deeply personal and socially critical themes in her poetry. Ekhtesari, a poet and activist, shares her experiences with Iran’s legal system, imprisonment, and subsequent escape, which led to her status as a sanctuary writer in Norway.

In her latest Norwegian poetry collection, “Hun er ikke kvinne,” released in the fall of 2022, Ekhtesari continues to address crucial societal issues. Kristin Sørsdal, a local author and translator, known for her novel “Mare,” joins the conversation. “Mare” explores the challenges faced by a Norwegian woman on Europe’s last outpost before Africa, touching on themes of conflict, privilege, and confinement.
