I highly recommend tuning in to the premiere of “Karanteneland, Episode 1: Samtale med Fatemeh Ekhtesari, poet og fribyforfatter i Lillehammer.” This engaging episode features a conversation between Fatemeh Ekhtesari and Asieh Amini, delving into Ekhtesari’s literary work, experiences with political censorship, and exploration of social taboos. The discussion sheds light on the challenges Ekhtesari has faced as a poet and the personal sacrifices made to focus on her craft.
Fatemeh Ekhtesari, an Iranian poet, author, and freelance filmmaker, has published eight books, including poetry and short story collections. The conversation also touches on her documentary work, particularly her film “Unpublishable,” addressing book censorship in Iran. Facing a harsh sentence in Iran in 2015, Ekhtesari sought refuge through ICORN’s network and became Lillehammer’s City of Asylum writer in 2017.
Asieh Amini, a renowned poet, journalist, feminist, and human rights activist, engages in the conversation. Having fled Iran due to her advocacy against the death penalty and stoning of women and minors, Amini served as a City of Asylum writer in Trondheim and is actively involved with Norsk PEN.
The conversation, conducted in Persian, is subtitled in Norwegian, providing a unique opportunity to gain insights into the literary and human rights challenges faced by these remarkable individuals. Don’t miss the premiere on April 30th at 19:00 for a thought-provoking and eye-opening dialogue.
