White Torture Nobel Prize

White Torture

NOBEL PEACE TALKS: Welcome to a film screening and conversation about the situation for political prisoners in Iran. “White Torture” is a documentary film by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi.

Join us for a screening of the short film “White Torture: Voices from Isolation,” documenting the harrowing experiences of political prisoners and human rights activists in Iran. The film, shot during Narges Mohammadi’s brief release in 2021, sheds light on the psychological impact of “white torture” – a form of isolation designed to break down individuals without leaving visible physical scars.

Following the screening, engage in a conversation with Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, Chair of Iran Human Rights Norway, and Fatemeh Ekhtesari, a poet and activist who herself endured solitary confinement. The dialogue, moderated by Dag Larsen from Norwegian PEN, will be conducted in Norwegian.

Date: February 28, 2024 Time: 18:00 – 19:30 CEST Location: The Nobel Peace Center, Oslo

Note: The Nobel Peace Prize exhibition “WOMAN – LIFE – FREEDOM” will be open until 18:00. Event ticket includes museum entrance.

Co-hosted by Norwegian PEN, this event is part of the Nobel Peace Talks series, exploring themes related to the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Narges Mohammadi.

Don’t miss this opportunity to gain insights into the challenging reality faced by political prisoners and activists in Iran.
